Changanachery is famous for its educational institutions and has much to be proud of its attempts in the sphere of education.

SAINT BERCHMAN'S COLLEGE ( SB COLLEGE )
S B CollegeSB College is famed all over Kerala as an |educational institution of excellence. The College has excelled not only in academics but has made a name for itself in all outdoor activities as well as the deep commitment of its faculty and students to various social issues of the day.The college was established in 1922. Its beginning was as an Intermediate college that was affiliated to the University of Madras. This college has been able to keep a high quality in academics and there are not many other colleges in the State to compared with this college. In 1996 and 97, this college obtained the R. Shankar Award for the best college.
The Shakespeare Drama performed here is famous as the institution celebrates its platinum Jubilee. Prem Nazir (famous Malayalam film actor) who was a former student of this college entered into the world of films through his role of Shylock in "The Merchant of Venice".
N.S..S. COLLEGE
N.S.S Hindu College Panampilly Govinda Menon laid the foundation stone of the N.S.S. College in 1947. Its beginning was modes with just the Pre-Degree education. This institution celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1997 when it grew into a large educational institution with 4000 students. This college is in Perunna, which is the official centre of Nair Service Society. This college is the pride of Changanachery.
ASSUMPTION COLLEGE
Asumption CollegeThis was the first autonomous women's’ college which was established by Kavukattu Mar Mathai in 1950. It has been able to obtain a state level attention through its academic and sports achievements.
There are also other institutions for B.Ed, T.T.C. and I.T.C. There are also 20 commerce institutes successfully running in Changanachery. There are 15 High Schools and 27 Convents in Changanachery. It is noteworthy that most of these were established before the Independence of India and contributed greatly to the high levels of literacy of central Kerala..
The branches of Schools and Colleges run by the Catholic Diocese and institutions under the N.S.S. though rooted in Changanachery, have spread to other states of India and even to other countries.
