| CANARA PAPER MILLS - CHETHIPUZHA |
| Canara Paper Mills is situated around 3 kms East of the town and near the 'Kurishummoodu Junction'. It was instituted in 1980 and the area covers 3 acres. The factory is known for its high quality of packing paper for paper bags. 200 tons of packing paper is produced every month and dispatched to different parts of the country. The factory employs nearly 100 workers. |
| COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES |
From
the beginning itself Changanacherry stands at the frontline in the commercial
affairs of the state. The Market of Changanacherry was inaugurated by Veluthampy
Dalava by exchanging an elephant in 1805. Now this market is a well-known
market in Kerala and is the best attended in all of North Travancore. The
chief trade is in rice, pepper, dry ginger, areca nuts and piece goods.
The town was formerly the capital of the Thekkumkur principality. |
